Hi Doris, Arthur Loe's first wife was Judith Henderson, and his second wife was Mary Rintz....Arthur and Judith were married at the time of the 1850 census. Peggy
I am looking for the following books: Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Bienville Parish Louisiana Indexed by Wanda V. Head or History of Bienville Parish Vol 1. Am willing to pay a reasonable price for them. Good Luck and Happy Hunting -- Please visit my Home page at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Village/2748/ Thank you Sheila
Hello LOE researchers-- Was Judith Henderson (born abt 1830) a wife to Arthur H Loe, born 1828 or was she a daughter to Stephen P and Beady LOE? According to the 1850 Census recently posted to the Bienville site, Judith was listed as age 20 in Household 272 which is that of Stephen and Beady. Arthur is also listed at age 23. If anyone has access to the 1850 census of Bienville, will you check to see if Arthur was married at that time? Thanks, Doris

Hello Warren, What can you tell us about the surname CASON from your 1981 book "Bakers Forever"on Bienville Parish?
Bobby, and Karen, I thought y'all might be interested in this information if you don't alread have it. I just finished entering Karen's information into my data base, and discovered that Sina Sara Mabry (dtr. of William Mabry & Nancey Jane Frame) married John B. Williams (brother of my g-grandmother) Martha Ann Williams. Sina Sara Mabry, & John B. Williams were "both" grandchildren of David Frame, and Elizabeth Stiles. They were "first cousins"!! haha, I didn't know that. I have had pictures of their tombstones for years, as they are both buried at the Ridge Cem. out of Castor, La. I knew Sina Sarah (spelled this way on tombstone) was kin to me, but just now tied it in with Karen's information! Thank You Karen! John B. Williams, b. 15 May 1844 Sina Sarah Mabry, b. 1851 d. 1927 John B. Williams was the son of Robert Williams and Mary "Polly" Frame... dtr. of David Frame & Elizabeth Stiles. Markie
Hi Imogene, Did not find any cemetery with Thomas WILLIAMS and a Mary Ann buried in the same one. Good luck in your search. If you find your Mary Ann LOW please let us know on the list. Several researchers are working the LOW/LOE lines. Thanks, Doris
Hello Bobby, I checked the Bienville Parish Cemetery Record Books that I have for your FRAME surname. The only ones that I located were buried in Freindship Baptist Cemetery. They were John M FRAME, 1876 - 1952 and Martha FRAME, 1885-1959. This does not mean that others were not buried in Bienville. I have found several discrepancies in the books that I bought. Good luck in your research. Doris Lindblad

Hi Doris, She and family are buried at Old Taylor Graveyard. I tried to find a stone for her at the Old Sparta Cemetery last year, but was unsuccessful. ( I had seen the name in the cemetery books at the library listing her at Old Sparta.) When I went to Taylor this year, there were stones for her and family. Peggy
According to the Cemetery Records Books of Bienville Parish, Vol 1,Delitha Loe Whitley, born 12/09/1824 died 05/08/1907 is buried in Old Sparta Cemetery. Also in Vol 2, Delitha Whitley, same dates, is listed with other Whitley family in Taylor Cemetery. If anyone has the original cemetery information, or personal knowledge will you verify which is correct?
Here is my oldest STEVENSON ancestor who settled in Bienville Parish. I am posting this information in case someone may be researching any of the following families.. My gg-grandfather: Benjamin F. Stevenson b. 1800 Wilson Co. Tn. Mar: 5 April 1825 Wilson Co. to Elizabeth Willis. Dtr. Of Edward Willis and Susana Willis. Benjamin F. was the son of Moore Stevenson from NC. & Sarah Perry, dtr of Josiah Perry & Elizabeth Twine.. Ch: William Moore, Mary W., John M. Christian, Charity, Ezra, Isaac Thomas "Tom" (my great grandfather), Ozia L., Sarah, and Josiah B. T. Stevenson. "There had been a large group of men and their families from the Mt. Juliet - Lebanon Tn. area who had moved from there about 1818-20. Many were members of Moore Stevenson's Little Cedar Lick Baptist Church. The first of these was John Murrell, who lived at Carthage Tn. He left Carthage with a flatboat, and floating down the Cumberland River, met up with others at Nashville. Using keelboats, they continued down the Cumberland to the Mississippi, and then to the mouth of the Red River. Going up the Red with great difficulty, they passed around the raft of logs blocking the river by going through Loggy Bayou and Lake Bistineau. In April they reached their destination of the Long Prairie area of Ark. They settled here, but so many became ill, they could not stay. Some returned to Tn., some went to the North La. hill country. Murrell settled between the present site of Minden La. and the present site of Homer, La. Around him grew what came to be known as the Flat Lick community. In this community are found Newt Drew, who had moved from Southampton Co. Va. (borders Northampton Co. NC) to Sumner and Wilson Co.s in TN. at the same time as Moore Stevenson. James Brinson, a Baptist minister from Lebanon Tn., the Koonce, McFarland, Nelson, Whitson, and Josiah Brinson families, all from Wilson Co. Tn . Rev. James Brinson and Newt Drew were original deacons of Moore's Cedar Lick church. Ben's first land in La. was "on the waters of Lake Bistineau" near Newt Drew. In 1845 Elizabeth sold land on Lake Bistineau (old Claiborne Parish). A patent in her name is on file for 80 acres dated 1849.(#3042) We do not know when Elizabeth died. She is in the 1850 census for Bienville Parish, There is no 1860 census for Bienville, and she is not in the 1870 census. Ben had sold his land on Bistineau and was in that part of Bienville Par. which became Red River Parish. An ad for a succession sale for John Lewis which was held at Ben's home describes it as "about 16 miles SW of Ringold." All of Ben's children except Clarinda moved to La. with him. She had remained with her Rutland grandparents after her mother's death and was raised by them. Markie

Hello to all on Bienville List. My name is Jolie Blanchard of Arlington, Virginia. I am researching: Bienville Parish: Blanchard, Conville, Franks (associated names Hitt & Lee) Jackson/Claiborne & Ouachita Parishes: Kelley, Shovan and Holland Franks/Hitt For those researching Peter Franks/Rachel Hitt -- the LDS Ancestral File has Rachel Hitt (Hite) lineage going back to 1500's in Prussia. The Hitts (Hites) were from Fauquier County, VA (a German community known as Germanna) in the 1700s. Her parents (John and Frances Banks Hitt) moved a lot (from Virginia to South Carolina to Georgia to Missouri, to Georgia again, to Missouri where they died). I downloaded this information from the Ancestral File. Regarding the Franks line, when I posted this information (below) on the Franks surname list I received a response that indicated that not all Franks researchers trust that this information is correct. I don't know the details behind that but will pass them along as soon as possible. In a book entitled: Liberty Hll-Brush Valley Friendship [which is in Bienville Parish, LA], First Ed. 1974, Compiled by Abram Morehouse Chapter of NSDAR. Printed by: Cooley Printers & Office Supply, Inc. 403 Hudson Lane, Monroe Louisiana, I found the following: Pps. 191 - 202, excerpted here. Franks Family 1. I. John Martin Franks, born circa 1700 in Germany, came from the Palantinate, near the City of Heidelberg, Germany. He came to the United States with several hundred German immigrants, the Hitts, Hollzclauses, Fishbacks and others.
