    1. Re: [LABIENVI-L] DIAMONDS
    2. Hello Mary Sue, I have searched Vols.1, 2 and 3 of the Bienville Parish Cemetery Record Books compiled by George Rogers Park. I find no surname of DIAMOND at all. There are a great number of WIGGINS buried in Providence Cemetery. There are also 3 WIGGINS in Old Castor, 3 WIGGINS in Mill Creek, 2 WIGGINS in Old Ridge Church Cemetery, 8 in Pleasant Grove, 16 in Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery; but, none with the name of Mary Ann, Mary A, or M A. Do you have anything to give you her birth date or age at death. The only female I found that died in the time frame mentioned is a Mary M Wiggins, died 1892. All the others are in the 1900's. Have you checked the surrounding counties? You might have some luck there. Good luck in your search. Doris

    1. [LABIENVI-L] May 16th RABORN Posting by Cynthia Samples
    2. Shirley B. Alexander
    3. Cynthia, Thank you for posting the RABORN Bienville Parish Deeds! Among them was a deed showing when my great-grandmother bot land in the parish in 1878: T. Raborn to Z.A. HODGES (Zilla Ann HODGES) This may be the approximate year that her husband (James Madison HODGES) died in Winn Parish and she moved closer to her five married children to rear her five younger children. The five married daughters were: Melissa D. HODGES who married James L. BARRON Laura Henrietta HODGES who married William B. SHIVELY Amanda HODGES who married David B. RICKS Lydia HODGES who married William Mathiew NORRED Mary Alice HODGES who married Jefferson S. SHIVELY After Melissa D. HODGES died in 1880, James L. BARRON married Maria T. RABORN. Zilla Ann HODGES died 9 Feb 1882 in Bienville Parish leaving her five minor children to be reared by their older married siblings. The details of the estate settlement were published in a newspaper called "THE RURAL TIMES." Does anyone on this list know if copies of this publication have been preserved for the 1882 period - and where I could get a copy to read? I am also related to the PULLEN family in Bienville Parish. Three GRAHAM sisters of my grandfather, French G. GRAHAM, married PULLEN brothers - so you see I have many connections to Bienville Parish. Keep sharing useful information because you never know who will be helped! Gratefully, Shirley B. Alexander

    1. [LABIENVI-L] Re: Bienville Parish roll call
    2. Mary Ellen Dickerson
    3. Hello, I am Mary Ellen Caldwell Dickerson, living just east of Shreveport. I started researching my Caldwell ancestry in 1976 and have enjoyed tremendous success, of course, with a couple of exceptions. My gr-gr-grandfather, Andrew Caldwell and his wife Elizabeth McNeel (McNeil) moved to Bienville Parish sometime around 1860. He had served in the Creek Indian War while living in Choctaw Co., AL; moved from there to Ouachita Co., AR and on to Liberty Hill in Bienville Parish, where he died in 1879. He and his wife are both buried at Old Taylor Cemetery at Liberty Hill. Family records show Andrew's parents to be James Caldwell and Sarah Lucinda Underwood Caldwell. James and Lucinda were married in 1797, Columbia Co., GA. They probably died in or around Conecuh Co., AL. One brick wall has been Andrew's daughter, Mary, who married Zachariah D. Tilley. Both are buried at Bear Creek Cemetery at Bryceland. Another has been Andrew's son, Thomas Jefferson Caldwell, who married Louisa J. Leatherman, daughter of Thomas Leatherman. I tracked Thomas from Claiborne Parish to Robeline and from there to Lake Charles, where he applied for a Civil War pension. From there, I have lost him. Another brick wall in my grandfather's sister, Mary "Mollie" who married first W. R. Morgan in Bienville Parish and second to H. W. Morris in Webster Parish. After that, I have lost her. A huge handicap is the fact that my grandfather, Sidney Charles Caldwell, died in 1936, before I was born and my grandmother, Nannie Young Caldwell, died when I was 10. By the time I was 20, my closest living Caldwell relative was my father and he knew very little about his family history. I do owe great thanks to the late Mattie Lou Caldwell Daniel of Arcadia and to the late Chapman Caldwell of Liberty Hill; both these terrific people helped me so much when I first began my research. Thank you for your time. Mary Ellen
