A cousin and I recently created a website called Sutton Place. It documents all the known descendants of Thomas Sutton, who lived in Jefferson Co., MS in 1835. He owned a sawmill and gristmill. His descendants migrated to various parishes in north LA, including Bienville Parish. These descendants include the Sutton's of Bear Creek, LA, who are descendants of Thomas' son, John. Please visit our website! It also has some pages of general information about the Sutton name. http://www.homestead.com/suttonplace/index.html Donna Sutton
Can anyone on the list tell me if there have been marriage records published in a book later than 1900?
Hi Charles, I have a couple of collateral Caskey connections through my Johnston line. 1. Elizabeth Caskey m. J. E. Beard (s/o Willie G. Beard and Lillie Maud Pilgreen) 2. Ivan T. Caskey (1905--1991) m. Berta Reese (1907--1994) (d/o Samuel Lynn Reese and Willie May Owens) 3. Madeline "Ned" Caskey (1921--1991) m. Crocket Howard Wise, Sr. (1916--1984) (s/o Ivan Harris Wise and Ida Ruby Snider) 4. Margaret Alleta Caskey (1921--1978) m. Ralph Emerson Beard (1915--1986) (s/o Vert Emerson Beard and Mary Lilla Hood) 5. Sybil Caskey m. Larkin R. Reynolds (s/o William Samuel Reynolds and Tabitha Elnora King) All of these families lived in the Bienville Parish area. My name is Charles CASKEY. I am interested in the Caskey genelogy. I have a lot and would like to share my information.
My great-grandfather was a Master Mason and affiliated with a lodge in Texas in 1879. Prior to living in Texas, he resided in Bienville. His brothers James and Tilman of Bienville were also Masons. Is there a Masonic Lodge in Bienville? I would like to know about the history of the lodge and if my gg-grandfather was a member. Diana Bryan Quinn Virginia Beach, VA.
Dear Grarnd PaPa3 or should I say cousin? I joined the DAR through our common ancestor. Our John Ferguson Jr.'s Revo. war papers state that he grew up on the Ronoake River in Va. All of his children were born in Chester Co. S.C. There is a marriage document in Franklin Co. Va. for one John Ferguson to Mary Hill. I do not have his father's will in front of me but he was John Sr. with wife, Mary. John Ferguson moved his family to Union Parish, La. from Amite Co. Miss. He was the father of: Son: William Ferguson Son: David Ferguson Daughter: Susannah who md. Jesse Wise. They are my ancestors. Daughter: Johannah who md. Richard Austin Daughter: Sarah who md. Mr. McGee and never moved to La. Daughter: Mary who md. William Austin Daughter: Christiana (Catherine) who md. John Feazel. They are also my ancestors. By 1850 he had moved back to Amite Co. Miss where he died. The census gave his age incorrectly. He and his second wife, Mrs. Mary Cason Ferguson were living with David Ferguson. He had married the 2nd. wife in La. after MaryAnn, our ancestor died. I had to prove this to join the DAR. My national number is 0763768. John Ferguson & wife MaryAnn (our ancestor) were members of the Zion Hill Bap. Ch. in Amite Co. MS. Later John Ferguson helped to organize the Mt. Zion Bapt. Ch. around Cherry (Pt. or something community) in Union Parish, La. How do you connect? I am unfamiliar with Chestnut and Creston community. I believe the Ballou's (sp. incorrect) intermarried with Wm. Austin's descendants. You will definately have to contact Roy Austin. He has so much more on the Austin family than I do. Hope to hear from you again and thanks to LABIENVI-L for this nice web site. Sherry G.
Many thanks to everyone who replied. The general concensus is that they are both in Natchitoches Parish. My Austin, Miley, Weaver, Ferguson & Heard ancestors lived in the northern part of Natchitoches Parish (and all over Bienville and Union Parishes) at various points in time, and many have passed away there. Again . . . Thanks, Bill Austin

I would like to know in what parish are Chestnut, LA, and Creston, LA -- Natchitoches Parish or Bienville Parish (or other)? Thanks, Bill Austin
Hi everyone, I'm looking for info on Daniel Green WILLIAMS (1843-1925) and his wife, Fannie Vick ROGERS (b. 1850). D.G. Williams is buried at Arcadia Cemetery. Their children were Elmer, Drake, Egan, Clara, Gussie, Lizzie, Grady, James Franklin, J. Thomas, and Blanche Williams. Fannie ROGERS was the daughter of Aires (Airs) ROGERS, who died in Bienville Parish in 1850, and Nancy DICKSON. Thanks, -Wayne
