    3. Hi Everybody, May I think out loud. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. The information I want must be in my notebook. I want to know: Who are the parents of my Malcolm M. CURRIE born ca 1841 in Mississippi and married Mrs. F. D. Henderson (Frances "Fannie" Day Henderson) in December 1867. ca 1841- Malcolm M. CURRIE was born in (unknown county) MS according to the 1880 Amite County, Federal Census. I need to look at the 1850 Federal Census and find my Malcolm M. CURRIE living with his parents. He would be listed as age 9 or 10. 11 DEC 1867 - Married Mrs. F. D. Henderson (Frances "Fannie" DAY) according to Amite County, MS marriage record. Malcolm was 26 when he married Frances. It makes sense that he was probably married before that. I see there is a Malcolm married to Amelia Ione Higdon. This is not my Malcolm who was in Amite Co., MS. The Malcolm who married Amelia was listed on the 1880 Franklin Co., MS census as being 50 (b. 1830). My Malcolm was born ca 1841. According to 1880 Amite County, Federal Census, Malcolm and Fannie had the following children: Male M.A., b. 1869, MS Male J. E., b. 1870, MS Male N.F., b. 1873, MS Female M.E., b. 1875, MS Male G. J., b. 1877, MS According to State of Louisiana death record, Johnson Edward (above as J. E.) b. 04 AUG 1870 was the son of Malcolm CURRIE. 1910 Bienville Parish, Federal Census my grandfather, Wayne Huff CURRIE (b. 1885, MS is listed as living in the household with his brother Johnson Edward Currie. I need to look at the 1900 Federal Census for Amite County, MS and see if Wayne is living with his parents, Malcolm M. Currie and Frances Day Henderson Currie. 1910- Wayne was a bookkeeper and single. When did he marry my grandmother, Gertrude Irene Pike. She was born 20 FEB 1891 and raised in Dyersburg, Dyer, TN. She was a student at the University of Tennessee from 1909 - 1911. They married some time between 1911 and 1916. I haven't been able to find a marriage record. You'd think they were married in Dyersburg. Where did they meet? Arcadia, Bienville, LA (where my grandfather was living) was a long way away from Dyersburg, Dyer, TN. Wayne Huff Currie was a Mason in the Arcadia Lodge #126. He was initiated on July 6, 1914, Passed August 1, 1914, raised October 3, 1914. His occupation was listed as Deputy Sheriff. This makes sense as his brother Johnson Edward was the Sheriff of Bienville Parish. Does anybody have information about the sheriffs in Bienville Parish, LA? Johnson Edward died May 5, 1947 in West Monroe, Quachita Parish, LA and was buried in Arcadia, Bienville, LA. May 15, 1917 Wayne Huff Currie was an Inspector on the Board of State Affairs. My grandparents are not on the 1920 Federal Census because they both died in NOV 1919. She died on the 22nd and he died on the 27th. THIS JUST IN from Patsy on the MsAmite County List: <<<<<<<<<One other bit: from GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN "Miss. Enterprise" 10 Dec. 1890: Died Friday, 5 Dec, 1890 at residence of WE Behrens, Dr. MM CURRIE, age 49 yrs. & 9 mo. Resided in Tilden, La, formerly of Amite. Survived by wife & 6 children.>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Does anybody know where Tilden, LA is? Is there a registry of doctors that I can check? 3. Hello Folks, I'm sending this message to several lists in the hopes that I will find out more about my great grandfather, Malcolm M. CURRIE. Born: ca 1841 according to 1880 Federal Census, Amite Co., MS. The death certificate of Johnson Edward CURRIE his son, states that his father's name was Malcolm CURRIE and that he was born in SC. Marriage: Marriage Record, Amite Co., MS, 11 DEC 1867 to Mrs. F. D. Henderson (Frances "Fannie" Day Henderson. Her first husband was Robert Henderson. The Henderson's had a daughter (N. Henderson) born ca 1865. Death: I have no death for Malcolm M. CURRIE. Children: Malcolm and Fannie had the following children all born in MS: M. A., son born ca 1869 Johnson Edward, son born ca 1870 N. F., son born ca 1873 M. E., dau born ca 1875 G. J., son born ca 1877 The 1880 Amite Co., census shows a niece named Vick Lofttin, age 10 born MS Johnson Edward CURRIE married in 1894 Bettie GIVENS who was born in Arcadia. He was Sheriff in Bienville Parish according to The History of Bienville Parish, by Billie Gene Poland and Carl P. CURRY. (I don't know if Carl is related or not) Johnson died in West Monroe, Quachita, LA and was buried in Arcadia, Bienville, LA. Johnson Edward and Bettie had the following children: Malcolm H. ca 1896, LA Willie E., ca 1898, LA Hattie C. ca 1900, LA John E., Jr., LA child, LA Jack, LA Stanley, LA Information from different sources show that there were CURRIE's in several MS counties. The name Malcolm runs through these families and well as the name Monroe, which is my father's middle name. I just know that his family is sitting in my notebook just waiting for me to find them. I just have not been able to connect my Malcolm M. CURRIE to these other Currie's. My father remembers there was some talk about some of the CURRIE's moving to Texas, county unknown. 3. Judy The following is a generated letter I received from the NARA about some forms I wanted Maybe this will help you get a head start on them You may also get Confederate info from : State of Louisiana, Sec of State Division os Archives 3851 Essen Lane P O Box 94125 Baton Rouge La. 7080-9125 pho. 504-922-1200 It takes about 6 weeks Good Luck NARA Welcome to the National Archives and Records Administration's e-mail reference and information service, inquire@arch2.nara.gov ! Operated by the staff of the Customer Services Division, "inquire" is intended to provide timely responses to reference requests, or at least get the process started quickly by referring your message to the appropriate office or person. We also answer general inquiries about the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). If you have not visited NARA's web page, we recommend that you do because there is much useful information about the agency and its records holdings and services. The URL is: http://www.nara.gov . This message is automatically generated whenever one of the following words appears in the text of an incoming message: form, forms, and Form. We have set up our e-mail system in this way because we have found that these words appear frequently in requests for the specific genealogy reference forms we use at NARA. (AHA!) The numbers and subjects of these forms are as follows: Form 80 (Military service and pension records prior to World War I, including the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, the Mexican War, Civil War, and the Spanish-American War) Form 81 (Passenger Arrival Records) Form 82 (Copies of Census Records -- requiring your knowledge of the publication, roll, and page number, as we do not conduct searches of Census Records for you) Form 83 (Eastern Cherokee Applications) Form 84 (Land Entry Papers -- for Federal lands only), and Form 180 (Military Service Records, World War I and later -- the form can also be downloaded directly from the following internet location: http://www.nara.gov/regional/mpr.html) If you indicated in your original message the FORM NUMBER, the QUANTITY needed, and YOUR POSTAL MAILING ADDRESS, you have given us the information we need to fill your order. However, if you did not include this information in your original message, please re-send your message with this information. While we try to fill orders within 3 to 5 days, sometimes the number of inquiries is too great to do so. We therefore appreciate your patience very much. If your inquiry concerns a different subject or one which requires a more substantive reply, it will be evaluated by an archivist (a real person, honest!) and either answered by that person directly, or referred to the proper reference or other office. Please do not expect immediate responses from other offices as it takes more time to make a substantive reply -- usually 2 to 3 weeks. As with any electronic system, problems/bugs sometime occur.   If this should happen to you or you want to register a comment, complaint, or congratulations for a job well-done, please send your e-mail to: rick.blondo@arch2.nara.gov . >From Rick, Charlene, Cynthia, and Bob, thanks for reading this entire message (and don't forget the NARA web page!). JOY
