They were French Hugeonauts from SC. This is a pretty well documented family starting in the Charleston area before the Revolution. I'm not a DuPre myself but some intermarried with side lines of my family and they tended to migrate across the South SC>GA>AL>MS>LA. Your line probably connects somewhere back.

Afraid that I know very little about my possible Dupree. I'm looking for information on William Dupree Cox Sr., who was the Marshall of Dubach, Louisiana. His son was William Dupree Cox Jr., who married Clara Hannah Fowler (with Orange Texas roots) and had a daughter named Martiel Cox Howell (my grandmother). Afraid that I don't know dates, but by counting generations backward I'd guess that William Senior lived between 1850 and 1920. I know absolutely nothing beyond this! I'm hoping that the middle name DUPREE refers to a maternal connection to a Dupree family from the South. -- Elizabeth (liz@grantproposal.com)

    3. Posted on: Bienville Parish Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Bienville?read=377 Surname: Markham, Upshaw, Lawless ------------------------- If there is still anyone living in Bienville Parish that is descended from John Upshaw and his wife Tabitha Lawless, or from John Bunyon Markham and wife Sarah Elizabeth Upshaw, you are invited to a reunion in New Braunfels, Texas on June 17, 2000. New Braunfels is farther south than the Markham-Upshaw family lived in Texas. When they left Bienville Parish in 1867, they settle in Bell County, Texas. Some of the family, Nimrod Markham, apparently a brother of John B. Markham, settled in Limestone Co. Tx. Just found out recently, that James C. Markham, and older brother of John B. Markham, apparently never left Louisiana. Some of his descendants grew up there. John B. Markham and wife Sarah and their two oldest children, Permelia Ann and Emily, lived with James C. Markham and family on the 1850 census. Any descendants of John's brothers and sisters are welcome. We don't know who all of his brothers were. We think John B.' father was named John Markham, who was in White Co. TN in 1820 and in Alabama in 1830. John B. Markham married Sarah Upshaw in Noxubee Co Miss in 1843, and were in Bienville by 1849. Nimrod was also in Noxubee Co Miss in 1840. The reunion is being run by Charles Markham. Write to me and I will get you in contact with him. Thanks! David Morgan Link: Markham, Barber, Upshaw, Wood, etc URL: <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dmorgan/>

I have much info on the Teasleys, but just curious about the Hortons. Any help would be appreciated. Jan

Does anything that you have connect Brown, Lemons, Towns, and Yocum? My grandparents were married in Bienville, La. I assume since my father, Ernie James Yocum, was born in Gibsland in 1909. Posted on: Bienville Parish Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/Bienville?read=375 Surname: Yocum, Towns, Lemons, Brown ------------------------- To Art: About Bert Yocum, I do not have much information. He had two half-brothers that went by the names of Lew and Everett. Ernie James Yocum,Sr., who was my father, had two brothers, one named Joe and another who died as a teenager named Robert. He had three, I think, sisters whose names were Mary, who was adopted out, Mae, who is living in Iowa today, and Pearl, who also lives in Iowa. About Ida Vivian Towns, her parents were James D. Towns and Laura Stall. Laura's siblings were Henry, William B., Benjamin Franklin, Vallie, and Annie. The Browns, I do not have any information on them except the comment of my mother that said that we were related. The Lemons, my information here is also limited but I think that there is a possibly that they may have been in Bienville Parish to have connected with with the others families. My guess would be that the Yocums lived in Iowa or Missouri and moved to Louisiana. Any help linking up my family in Bienville Parish, La. will be appreciated. Thanks! Pat Patterson Pat Patterson
