Hi Doris, I have a book called "Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Bienville Parish, Louisiana", indexed by Wanda Head. It's 60 pages and it was taken from the book "Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Northwest Louisiana", which was originally published in 1890. I bought it from J&W Enterprises in Shreveport. Have you heard of it? Peggy

Any information on anyone mentioned above will be much appreciated.
Does anyone on the list know how to contact Henry and Billie Jean Poland? I am told that she might be one who can lead us to a copy of the book" History of Bienville Parish"
Joseph supposedly had 3 children: Walter, Ona & Ada. No mention as to who his wife was....
Hi Doris, I got most of my info from my mother in law, who helped Eva Loe McDuffie with her book. She says that there are mistakes, as there are in a lot of genealogies. I have not found any other info on Joseph, and thank you for telling me about Albert and Laurien. Did you find them on the earlier census? I will have to do some digging....she's not much help anymore as she's up in age and can't remember like she used to, bless her heart. Peggy
Hi to all, I have started GenConnect Boards for Bible, Biographies, Deeds, Obituraries, Pensions, and Wills. These are for posting of information only, do not put any queries on these pages. If you want to post a query, then go to the USGenWeb site for Bienville Parish: http://www.rootsweb.com/~labienvi/ The following are the addresses for the other boards: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/BienvilleBibl http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/BienvilleBios http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/BienvilleDeed http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/BienvilleObits http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/BienvillePens http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/La/BienvilleWill I want to also remind everyone to PLEASE respect the copyright laws!! If any copyright has been violated, then I will have to remove the information from the board. I hope that everyone likes the mailing list and boards, and please feel free to contact me with any problems. Enjoy yourselves, Peggy
Laurian and Albert Brown Collinsworth are on the IGI as children of O. M. and Maranza. I also have a copy of a Bible Record (very poor) that was sent to me by Billy Bob Hillier. I can definitely see Albert Brown b. 1844 but can not distinguish Laurian on the copy that I have. There are several different hands writing the bible record and parts of it was done after the marriage of Georgia Theodotia (dau of OM and Frances). Looks like she married a J. A. Williams in 1882. There is no Joseph listed on the IGI nor that I can determine on the Bible Record. He also is not on the 1850 Clarke County MS census. I do not have a census record showing Oran's family in 1860. (Am not sure where they were at that time) Of course, that still does not mean he was not there. He could easily have been born and died between census years. Do you recall any information as to whether he lived to adulthood? This is what makes genealogy so interesting while making us crazy at the same time.
Hi Peggy, I do agree on the fact that Ursula was probably a daughter of a previous marriage of Frances Cason basically since she was 14 in 1870. That would have created her being born before the death of Maranza Loe since she died in 1863. According to the 1880 Census of Bienville, the Susan is the mother of Frances Cason. She is listed in the household of O M, Frances and Georgia (age 14). It does not give an age for Susan but it does define her as "mother-in-law". It is hard to distinguish her age on the 1870 copy that I have but it could be 66. Will take a look at the rest of the info and get back with you. Do you know where you acquired the information on Joseph? I certainly do not contend there wasn't one at this point. Just that I haven't run across anything to pick him up yet. Thanks for your help. Doris Will accept any information that anyone else has also. JUMP RIGHT IN.
Dear Bienville Parish Researchers, My grandfather, FRENCH G. GRAHAM, married twice in Bienville Parish. He first married, about 1880/1881, SALLIE McGUIRE (b.c.1864), the daughter of WILLIAM & JANE McGUIRE. FRENCH & SALLIE had three daughters: ESTELLA (b.1882), NELLIE (b.1886) and SALLIE (b. 1888). SALLIE must have died about 1888-1890 because in 1890 FRENCH married TENNESSEE EVELYN HODGES, daughter of JAMES MADISON HODGES & ZILLA ANN (DAVIS) HODGES. They married at Sparta in Bienville Parish. In the late 1890s, FRENCH & "TENNIE" moved their family to Red River Co, TX, and then on to Eastern Oklahoma about 1902. I would like to correspond with anyone related to these families and especially the family of SALLIE McGUIRE since I would like to learn more about her family. FRENCH G. GRAHAM and "TENNIE" were my mother's parents. Shirley B. Alexander

I also don't know anything about OM's second marriage to Frances Casson, although I see them in the 1870 census with Louisiana and Georgia. I also see a Susan and Urusula, perhaps daughters of Frances adopted by OM? Let me know what you think.... Peggy
Thanks for the note Peggy and a special thanks for the list. I am a descendant of Louisana America Collinsworth (the 13th child of Oran Moses and Maranza Loe Collinsworth). I do have the names and births of her siblings but little else. I also know that Oran married Frances Cason after the death of Maranza and I show two children born to them. I would appreciate any information that anyone on the list might have on the siblings and their families. The children I have listed are: Henry Lewis (1838 AL), Malissa (1840 MS), John Franklin (1842 MS)m. Elizabeth THOMAS, Albert Brown (1844), Andrew Pickens (1846 MS)m. Mathis? Any information on Frances Cason also appreciated.
Hi Doris, I started this list because of all the family that my husband had in Bienville Parish. His mother was born in Liberty Hill and descends from the Hays - Loe families. Maranza is my hubby's 3rd cousin. What info do you need on the Collinsworth-Loe line? I hope that everyone will enjoy this list and will be able to find all of those tidbits that you need to fill in the gaps!! Enjoy yourselves.... Peggy
He everyone, I'm new to the list, so thought I would post my Surnames from Bienville Pa. Womack; Southen; Myers; Rowell; Stevenson; Carlisle; Pierce; Sledge; Williams; Frame; Stiles; Smith; Garner; Dunn; Dildy, among others... as you can see, all 16 of my G-G-Grandparents came into Bienville Pa. from 1830-to-1865. Most being from the Castor, Jamestown, Hallsummit, Saline "area". Some moved back and forth from Winn Parish, Red River Parish, and Natchidoches Parish....I live in Shreveport. My Brick Wall that I have been hammering away at for the last 25 years is: Wrizopa "Rispey" Southern , mar: Robert Womack, 11 Nov. 1830 Copiah Co. Ms... moved to La. ca. 1842. Hunting Rispey's parents and siblings. Some of their children are buried at the Ridge Cem. in Castor, La. If anyone is a descendant of Robert and Rispey, I have a picture of them that I will be glad to send a copy to you. I'm really glad to find this list as most of my research has been in Bienville Parish. If I can help anyone, I will be happy to do what I can. Thank you, Martha Stevenson Owen "Markie"
Hello, Glad to see this list. Would like to have any information available on the families and connecting lines of John M JORDAN/Sally Matilda HOLDER and also of Oran Moses COLLINSWORTH/Maranza LOE. Am willing to share any and all information that I have. Also if anyone has a copy of the book "History of Bienville Parish", would you please e-mail me. I found this book in the Shreve Memorial Library and would love to have a copy if possible. Thanks, Doris Lindblad Please do make your contribution to Rootsweb. It is a great opportunity for all of us.
I am researching the McCONATHY family from Talladega, AL who settled near Arcadia apparently on or near the Lincoln/Bienville parish line. Does anyone have a connection to this family? Kathleen McConathy, Houston, TX
