    2. Can anyone verify for me that the William A. WHITLEY, born 07/21/1828, d. 04/26/1877, buried in Taylor Cemetery was the husband of Delitha (LOE) WHITLEY, b. 12/09/1824, d. 05/08/1907, also buried in Taylor Cemetery? Thanks, Doris Lindblad

    2. I wanted to share this bit of information with members of the list and ask "ARE WE DOING OUR FAIR SHARE"? Excerpt from Rootsweb Review, Vol. 2, No. 18 received today: >>>>>>>> Here is the problem, and why the new communities will be the solution. When we launched RootsWeb, we assumed that our users would prefer to support us as much as they were able, in exchange for a site open to all, without banners plastered all over everything and without having resources locked up (as is done at other genealogy sites), available only for fees on the order of $60 per year. Instead, people can support RootsWeb for as little as $12 per year. We thus hoped that a reasonable fraction of our users, perhaps half of them, would support us in some way. And because we expected support from the community, we made promises to projects like USGenWeb that we would freely host them for the good of the Internet genealogy community. We have no intention of reneging on those early promises, but it has been difficult, because the community support we anticipated has not been there. Although people use the site like crazy, fewer than 7% of our users have chipped in to keep things going. The other 93%? Perhaps they're busy, or they're broke, or they won't pay unless they have to, or they don't think RootsWeb is useful. Who knows? But it means that RootsWeb has run at a cash flow loss. In simple terms, Karen Isaacson and Brian Leverich have donated not only their time as system administrators but a substantial part of their personal resources to provide the genealogical community with RootsWeb. The rest of RootsWeb's staff have also made substantial contributions. Because RootsWeb's costs exceed its income, we can't provide all the genealogical facilities we'd like to support. These could include online searchable databases of pension records, census indexes, vital records, or countless other valuable genealogical services that we could easily provide -- if only we could afford the staff to support them. And, ultimately, RootsWeb can't even continue to exist if we don't bring our costs and revenues into balance, something we want to have under control before the transition to non-profit status (as opposed to losing money status) is completed. We are doing what we can to remedy the situation. For instance, we are selling banner advertisements where we can. However, this alone will never provide enough revenue to cover the costs of the unbannered volunteer projects which consume most of RootsWeb's resources yet by their very nature produce no direct revenue, even as they provide invaluable content to the genealogical community. The new communities, from their inception, will be fully supported by advertising. They will be paying their own way. We can shift some of the costs of maintaining the Web, mailing list, GenConnect, and search engine servers onto the new communities, so that the new communities will subsidize a genealogical community that hasn't been supporting itself. Although we have been disappointed in the amount of financial support of the genealogical community, we would like to express our deep gratitude to the writer of the letter above and the other 7% of our users who have helped make RootsWeb available to the whole community. Without their support and encouragement, there would be no RootsWeb. If you would like to join the folks who are making RootsWeb possible and thus help us bring new genealogical data online, freely available to all, please visit: <http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html> or send e-mail to: RW-info@rootsweb.com >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> COME ON FOLKS. LET'S PITCH IN WITH OUR FAIR SHARE. ROOTSWEB DOES A FANTASTIC JOB FOR US RESEARCHERS. Doris

    2. Jolie Blanchard
    3. Hello to all! I am new to the Bienville Parish list. I was visiting in Bienville Parish a couple of weekends ago (from Arlington, VA) and attended the huge flea market known as Bonnie & Clyde Days. While in Arcadia, I stopped by the Bienville Democrat newspaper offices. I was seeking to copy a couple of obituaries I need from 1924 and 1935. Unfortunately, the copies that the newspaper office has from that time period are severely damaged and are probably destined for the trash heap. I saw them and they are in bad shape. However, I am told that LSU has good copies going back that far (and further) on microfilm. The trouble is finding someone who can go to the library at LSU in Baton Rouge and look these things up and copy them for me. If you know anyone in Baton Rouge area who would be willing to do that, please let me know. If you wish to subscribe to the Bienville Democrat, here is the information. The Bienville Democrat will mail their newspaper to you for $40 per year. It is a weekly, published on Thursdays. Contact: Wayne E. Dring, Publisher P.O. 2. Bill & Lynelle Stevenson
    3. Markie, Peggy, Doris... Sure, the information on the Collinsworths came from "History of Bienville Parish La. Vol. I" pps 183-186. There are several separate articles submitted by Wanda Collinsworth, Ealia Wise, Mary Collinsworth Phillips. Dr. Andrew Pickens Collinsworth.... George Jefferson Colinsworth.... Henry Tyson Collinsworth... Julia Robinson Collinsworth.... Nathan Clark Collinsworth... William David and Willie Belle Hines Collinsworth... All are descendants of Orian Moses and Maranza Loe Collinsworth from Bladen Co. NC to Clark Co. MS, to Jackson Parish to Bienville Parish. If these will help I'll be glad to xerox them for you and check Vol. II the next time I'm at the library.

    2. Hays & Peggy Tebbetts
    3. Hi Markie, Maranza Loe is the sister of my husband's g grandfather, so, he doesn't descend on the Collinsworth-Loe line, but the Loe-Hays line. Maranza's brother, Daniel Nicholson Loe married Elizabeth Rentz, their daughter, Mary Ann Loe married John Clayton Hays, and my husband's mother is the 13th of their 14th children. We still own part of the land that belonged to his ancestors in Bienville Parish, and go there quite a lot during the year. We live in Center, TX, which is about 22 miles from the LA border, so it doesn't take us long to get to Bienville. I told Dave Morgan that I can do look ups from the following: 1850 Bienville Parish census, Liberty Hill - Brush Valley - Friendship by Eva Loe McDuffie, Bienville Parish LA Marriage Records 1848-1900, and Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Bienville Parish. As you know, Doris Lindblad can do look ups from the Bienville Parish cemetery records books that she has. Whenever you update the look up pages, please include us. It was nice hearing from you, and I appreciate your offer of help on the Collinsworth-Loe line. Peggy

    2. Hello Markie, I am actually from the line of child # 13 of Orian Moses and Maranza, Louisiana America COLLINSWORTH who married Thomas JORDAN also of Bienville Parish. Of course my main interest is in that line but I am gathering info on all the siblings of Loula. I also correspond with Bill Hillier who is a descendant of John Franklin COLLINSWORTH. We have exchanged a lot of information on the lines. I would love to have a copy of the picture of "Dr Pick" and any other information that you may have. I actually show Andrew Pickens b in 1846 in Clarke Co, MS as the 4th son. Prior to him, I have Henry Lewis, b 12/10/1838, John Franklin, b. 10/13/1842, Albert Brown b. 06/03/1844. My source cited is "copy from Bible", which was sent to me by Bill. And Malissa who was born in between Henry and John. I really appreciate the help of anyone out there. Doris
