I found a Barton SIGLER born. about 1876 Of Scott, Bolivar MS (found on a web page surfing the web). Not sure how related to my family. My great grandmother was Maimer SIGLER. In the l880 US Census, Grove Hill, Clarke County, AL she was 5 yrs. old(b.abt. 1875), daughter of Lafayette SIGLER 36 yrs. old born in AL and whose father was born in SC. Lafayette was born abt. 1854 in AL and was a dentiist. Lafayette's wife was Georgia A.(b. abt. 1864 AL), with Maimer's other siblings Duroc (7 yrs. old), Lee (3 yrs. old), Charles L. (2 yrs. old) in Grove Hill, Clarke County, AL. My grandfather was Norman Lafayette CARTER born Sept. 10,894 in Grove Hill. After Norman's father Robert Lee CARTER died, Maimer remarried a man named HELT in Mobile, AL. Also in the 1880 Grove Hill, Clarke County, AL census there was a Barton SIGLER,dentist, 61 yrs. old and born in SC. I assumed he may be Lafayette's father. His wife is listed as Elizebeth (62 yrs old born in SC) and two daughters s! till living in the home. Mary was 27 and Laura was 15 both born in AL. Hope we can connect these families. kindest regards, jan davis-shannon e-mail silky1@hargray.com
