My grandparents lived a Fields which is very close to Merryville he was a farmer and he had boxes of arrow heads that he had uncovered in plowing his land. I feel like you may be able to find some info through the Merryville Historical Society if they have one. It has been many years since I was in that area. But know it pretty well. Maybe Beauregard Parish H. S. just not sure. But one you cross the river coming from Texas there was a really nice marker. If I can be of any assistance just let me know. I can dig up info if needed. Merle

It is for the reception of the J.E. Freemans golden wedding anniversary. It states that they were married in Longville, LA Aug. 16, 1916. At the time of the artical they had lived in Longview, Cowlitz county WA since 1923. The names included in this artical are their children; Oliver, Calvin, Audrey, Ruby and Inez. Other names include Victoria Washington, Gail West, Mrs. Cynthia Vierie, Mrs. Leah Frykholm, Miss Denise Washington and pamela West. It has a nice picture of an elderly black man and woman standing next to a tiered wedding cake. And the artical is yellowed with age. The subject of this message,Harley Grant VanHuss, may have died in Deridder circa February 1973 around Valentine's Day.Anyway that is what the SSDI says was his last residence and we know how that goes.Isn't always true by any means. There was no location given as to where a final death payment might have been sent. Should anyone be able to verify this I would like to hear from them as his late wife,Nancy, who died around 1931 possibly in Oklahoma would have been my late grandfather's 1st cousin. Harley and Nancy according to family info from another individual had 8 children--Willard,Mose(s),Veta,Jack,Fern, Vern,Mary Ina,and Betty all of whom were born between 1906 to 1929 in Oklahoma in all probability.Sorry, but I do NOT know whom any of the young ladies married or whether or not they made it to maturity.
