Since I don't know where you live, it's hard to explain unless you are familiar with the territory. That would be on Highway 12 going toward Kinder or DeQuincy depending on which way your traveling. There use to be a railroad track across the highway and probably was a thriving place at one time. There is still a settlement there. I'm not good on miles but I would say it is about three miles from the Ragley overpass that crosses over hwy 12

I've read from several notes that it is no longer a town. My grandmother and aunt lived there back in the early 1920's (maybe), and any additional information anyone can provide me about this extinct town would really be appreciated. My aunt, who is in her 80's, wants to visit soon and I saw where there is only a historical marker left. We will be traveling from Texas. Thanks for your help.

    2. Dear Linda, My mother, Vera O'Quinn Raimer, was born in Sugartown. Her mother, Avis Annette Sanders O'Quinn, always spoke of their Baggett neighbors in Sugartown. They left La. in 1917 for Texas. I remember going to Sugartown and grandma took us to where the Baggetts lived. I wish I had photos to share with you. June

    3. Hi List, I am new to this list and just wanted to tell about the family I am working on. I am doing this family history for my grandchildren. I am not related to the Baggett family but my son-in-law is a grandson to Dewy Baggett. I have them traced back to the 1700s but have not been able to prove allot of it yet. Mostly census records and things I have found online. If anyone is working on this family, I would love to share information. We are especially interested in documentation and old Baggett photos. My son-in-law's family does not have very many photos and I would love for the grandchildren to someday be able to see what their ancestors looked like. Any help would be much appreciated. Linda Stineff Ragley, LA.

In the 1930 Beauregard Parish Census, Kinney (spelled Kenney in the record) is living in Police Jury Ward 4 with his wife, Lucy, daughter, Lena (b. 1916), daughter, Mary (b. 1919) and son, Buddie (b. 1923). The family lived just down from Kinney's older sister, Harriet Bishop. Kinney Clark was my great-great uncle, and we have lost contact with his family. We would love to find them, or their descendants, or find out any information about them. Alanna Carter

Also, are you Larry Paul's aunt?
