I have plenty of info on the Mayer side for you, but I have little about any Jordan cousins of mine. I have some intersting stuff for you. Most of my info are the decendants of Rudolph Adelbert Sebastien Mayer. Your g-grandfather married his daughter? jsebas8460@aol. My line is: Joseph Marie Armand, Athanase Armand, Dorcineau Armand, Dorsin Armand, and Joseph Shelby Armand, and Kate Armand was my grandmother. Are there any photos of any of those Armands or their wives? I have lots of photos of my Grandmother Kate, and a few of her sister Rose Armand from the early to mid 1900's, but that's it. I would love to know more about them, as well. I've heard that Shelby Armand died when his children were small, and they lived in an orphanage for a while. They all lived in Avoyelles, LA. Thanks!!! Alfred Mayeux and Jeff Mayeux are two different people. Alfred married Eva Roy and had Verlie Mayeux 1929. Jeff Mayeux married Una Lemoine, had Gertrude & Davis. He then married Josephine Hayes Lemoine, who had Faye and Gerald Lemoine. Looks like Jeff & Josephine had two children: Jewel and Bonnie. In the 1500's there was a eclastical decree at the Council of Trent, that a marriages were only vaild if carried out by a priest or his assistant. In 1725 and again in 1733, Louis XV, King of France, in order to make the validity of marriage uniform throught the Kingdon of France (including Louisiana), decreed by Royal legistation that marriages were valid only if celebrated in the Tridentine form. This custom carried thru the Spanish rule of Louisiana (1760-1803). Because Louisiana being mainly Catholic and that most of the people did not read or write and spoke mainly French, the custom was passed on. So it is correct that there were 2 mariages in this case. A Civil marriage and a religious marriage. Hope this helps in clearing up some misconceptions as to the correct date.
