Author: regrl1 Surnames: Gremillion, Normand Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.louisiana.parishes.avoyelles/1066/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a old group photo (with 11 adults and 12 children) taken around 1905 -1910. I was told it was the Gremillion family. The only person I know the identification of is a little girl whose name was Eva Gremillion. I believe her father was Ulysses Gremillion who was born in Avoylles Parish July 13, 1873. Ulysses and his wife, Annette had these children: Kildren, George, Mattie, Henry, Eva, Guy, Francis and Dean. I suspect that Ulysses, Annette and some of their children are probably in the photo. Ulysses' parents were Emile Gremillion and Ernestine Normand. They may be in the photo also and perhaps some of the other adults could be Ulysses' brothers and sisters. I would be happy to email a copy of this picture to any descendants. I would also appreciate any help to identify the people in the picture. For example: Baldony, Baldonide, Baldinodo, Baldini... and so forth. I wanted to try and find a documented (written) source for the _correct_ surname from before the change to "Coco". Author: ewingpollard Surnames: Gaulden; Tessier and Smith Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.louisiana.parishes.avoyelles/330.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am a GGGrandaughter of Charles Tessier and Virginia Gaulden. I am fairly certain that Virginia was a child of Mathew Gayle Gaulden and Lenore Jelks. I have visited Charles Tessier and Virginia Gaulden's gravesites in Moreville. There is another Gaulden buried there. Mary Louise Gaulden Smith, who was the wife of LJ Smith. She was born April 20,1868 and died August 16,1903. I believe she was the mother of Charles Smith. My Grandfather Stephen Barbre Tessier ( nicknamed Jeb)told me a story about his Grandparents graves. He said the river( The Attachafalya River) was about to take the graveyard where his Grandparents were buried and also Mary Louise Gaulden Smith was buried. He and Charles Smith and one of his brothers were asked to dig up the graves and relocate them to a safer graveyard. He said they loaded the caskets and headstones into a horse drawn wagon and drove them to the Cemetary in Moreville and reburied them. I believe he told me it was around the time he was 16 years old. So that would put it about 1911 or so. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
