Greetings from Pittsburgh! I am using the Baton Rouge Diocese Catholic Church Records to trace my ancestors in Louisiana. At the end of each entry for each name, I find a little reference to the original record. Some of these are easy to decipher, but some are not, and no key is provided. For example, "ASC" is Ascension Parish. However, I have begun to wonder if SMI is St. Martin or something else. What is SGA? I have just begun to run across this abbreviation in the early volumes. So, if anyone out there has a minute, would you be so kind as to tell me for certain how to interpret SMI and SGA????? I would really appreciate it! Clueless in Pittsburgh, Heidi Streetman
