Unfortunately, I come from the "other" Chauvins. Our progenitor came from Calais (St. Pierre) France around 1800 and settled at Union, LA. Jacques Chauvin married Rose Aspasie Mayer in St. James in 1808. Some of these Chauvins ended up in Ascension Parish, also. Been trying for years to find something in France that might tie the two families together, but no luck. Maybe some day. Regards!
