    1. O'Malley, McDermot, Burke, Rush
    2. anne ogle-leonard
    3. Hi all Ascension Parish, LA listers, My sources for this are the Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church records, Louisiana census records, and family rememberances. I am still looking for traces of Thomas O'Malley, b. 1833, the Irish immigrant son of Thomas O'Malley and Ellen McDermot who married Katherine Rush in April of 1865 at the Catholic church in Ascension Parish, maybe Donaldsonville. Katherine/Catherine/Kate Rush was quite a bit younger than Thomas O'Malley, she was born about 1849, her parents were Thomas Rush and Catherine Gafney. All three were born in Ireland. I believe the Rush family was also in Ascension Parish, but I haven't proven it yet. Kate had two children with Thomas, John, b. 1866, and Marie Ann, b. 1868. In May of 1872, Kate Rush died, as is again recorded in the Catholic Church records. In 1874, Thomas O'Malley remarried to Mary Burk(e), b. about 1850, parents unknown but born in Ireland. Mary is listed in a census as being born in Louisiana. Mary and Thomas had three sons, Thomas, b. about 1874-5, Charles, b. 1876, and Patrick, b. 1878, all born in Louisiana and their baptisms recorded by the church. Thomas O'Malley worked as a levee contractor on the Mississippi, and family lore has it that he did quite well for himself until a flood of the river completely washed him out and 'broke his heart'. I know that the youngest son, Thomas, stayed in Louisiana, eventually moved to New Orleans where he had a wife and at least one daughter. Don't know the name of the daughter, but she married an Italian who had a night club in the French Quarter, and they had one daughter. Thomas' wife died in the mid-1950s. I know this much from the fuzzy recollections of one of my uncles who visited them at that time. One of the other sons, Charles, left Louisiana, played baseball for St. Louis for a time, became an electrician, and worked his way west putting up telephone/telegraph lines until he got to Las Vegas, New Mexico where he fell in love with Augusta Fleck and settled for the rest of his life. He is my great grandfather. We are told that there were still lots of relatives in Louisiana as recently as the 1950s -- anybody left??? Haven't found clues!!! Help! Thanks, Anne Ogle-Leonard Albuquerque, New Mexico _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    2. I am researching the Variani-Coglioli family. Dominique Variani married Marie Coglioli both from Italy. They had a son Jean Battista Variani that married Marie-Carmelite Martinez in Ascension Parish on Oct 24, 1850. I would be interested in hearing from anyone that might be reseaching these names. 1. William Parm
    2. Mike Samuel
    3. Hello, I'm researching my family members who lived in Louisiana during the later part of their lives, first William Parm(Parms), my gggrandfather who married Josephine Hill, my gggrandmother. They had Andrew Parm(Parms), my ggrandfather born 1888 where, I don't know died in Prairieville, La Dec 1964. Andrew married Mary Little- West, they had Lourde, Josephine, Isaac, and Laura. Laura is my grandmother. Andrew had several brothers and sister from other women, William "Bill", had married. William and Josephine had Andrew, Willie, and Reeus(I think). William also married Nannie and had Percy. William married a woman name Anne at some time, not sure about that marriage. I did find there was a William Parm who had served in the Civil War who had a alias of William Webb. I'm not sure if that could be my gggrandfather William Parm, but I did see a William Webb on the census for Ascension Parish in 1860 or 1890. The William Parm alias William Webb had a wife name Easter Webb who was also found on the census. Now that I'm confused, if anyone have any information on the names mentioned above can you please share. I have asked family members and this is where I'm at. I do know that my ggrandmother Mary Little West Parm, had a brother Joseph H Little and a sister Fannie. She married a Arthur West before she married Andrew. I have no information on Josephine Hill or her family. I'm not sure where William Parm and Josephine Hill were orginally from. Rhonda

Mary Jo has been trying unsuccessfully to subscribe to this list from the Ascension Parish Gen. site. She has asked me to send her email address to the listmaster to request that she be added to the mailing list. Her email is: MJGOQ@aol.com Could you please add her to the list? For some reason, the orthodox method has not worked. Thanks very much, Heidi

I suspect the mother's surname is Eustache and her parents are possibly Pierre Eustache and Catherine (surname omitted). If this proves to be so, check the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Mobile. I believe the New Orleans Genesis publication of the Genealogical Research Society of New Orleans ran an index for their church records. Might find the rest of the Pivautot's there, too. Good luck.
