    2. My husband has any variation of the following names. They came from Italy in the early 1900s. They seemed to all spell the name differently, but most of them moved from LA to CA. Some of them lived near White Castle, LA and the others I'm not sure about. GIADONE/GIADONI/JARONI/JARONE/JARONA -Debbie

    3. I guess this would be an "unofficial" Roll Call. Here is my name list: Wintter, Rodeillat, Carenne, Gregoire, Berthelot, Philipeaux, Castani, Loupe, Villique, Vicner, Seghers, Duffel, Williams, Landry, Bujol Most of these are from Ascension Parish, although some family lines moved to/from St. James & St. John the Baptist Parishes. Unfortunately, I come from the "other" Chauvins. Our progenitor came from Calais (St. Pierre) France around 1800 and settled at Union, LA. Jacques Chauvin married Rose Aspasie Mayer in St. James in 1808. Some of these Chauvins ended up in Ascension Parish, also. Been trying for years to find something in France that might tie the two families together, but no luck. Maybe some day. Regards! 1. Proofreader Needed
    2. Christi Malone
    3. Hi Listers, I am new to this list. I am currently transcribing the 1870 Ascension Parish census for the US Census project. I feel this is a very important project, as the census for all counties & years is not readily available for most people. However, I can't do this alone. I need a proofreader. If you have ties to 1870 Ascension Parish, please consider volunteering to proofread the records. You can sign up at the following web site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~census/proof/index.htm. Or feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks. Christi Malone, transcriber US Census Project 1870 Ascension Parish, LA

I am hoping that this may be my lucky break. My grandmother was Belle (Belazire) Cannon Babin married to Wright Abraham Babin. She grew up in Baton Rouge but moved to Prarieville/Dutchtown after she married. Do you know if she and/or her people are in this book? Thanks in advance, Debbie in Orlando

It is available directly from the author: Bobby Marchand 46291 Highway 22 St. Amant, LA 70774 The book is compilation of info from old-timers in the area and their recollections of families that settled in Acy, especially between the mid-1800's and the 1990's.
