    3. Hello, I am trying to locate information on the following individual: EMILY CHATILLION born circa 1843 in Nebraska or Wyoming - Wed on 1-30-1859 in St Louis City Missouri - LOUIS BENJAMIN CLAYMORE LESSERT born circa 1834. Emily's mother was BEAR ROBE, the daughter of MAHTATATONHA, Sioux-Oglala. Her father was a French guide and fur trapper named HENRI CHATILLION or CHATILLON who lived in St Louis. The author Francis Parkman wrote about them and the death of BEAR ROBE in his book THE OREGON TRAIL. I would like to know any information on them, Emily's siblings, and if any of the male siblings used the last name CHATILLION. If any one knows of any CHATILLION [or variations of this name] please let me know! Thank you.

    1. [LA-NATIVEAMERICAN ] Native American Website
    2. Lissa
    3. I decided to go looking for more web sites with information on LA Native American Genealogy. I had stopped for awhile, b/c most of my research had taken me out of LA, but I happened across this site, and found it rather interesting. I really hope you all take the time to read it. It made me think and realize, that although I will continue to search for that allusive ancestress. I know that I am Native American. I see it each day as I look in the mirror. I feel it each day, and even if I do find that piece of paper, it won't change who I am, because I listened to my father and grandmother and knew that I was Native American. Lissa
