Hi, my mom and her sisters were also in an orphange in New Orleans founded by Mother Cabrini. Don't know the name of the orphanage. She and 2 of our sisters were there for about 4 years until their papa came and got them. This was abt 1911-1915. Love to have the orphanage records, mama was 4 years old then. Anna Josephine McCants. i am needing info on how to access records from the Insane Asylum at Mandeville, La or near there. Does anyone have the address or info to help please? Mama's mother may have been there in 1910, she may have died there? There are family versions about when and where she died. I would like to get the straight of it. Daisey Purl CONEY (McCANTS) b 16 Dec 1874 d 5 Jun 1910. Several stories evolved about her death, none have been checked or verified. One is that she drowned herself in the creek behind her father's home in Magnolia, MS. Another says she hung herself in her cell at the insane asylum; and a third says she drowned herself in Lake Ponchatrain near Mandeville, LA while living at the insane asylum.
