Hello list, Does anyone have the following names in their databases? SULPICE, BELIN, BELLIN, BOUROT, BOROT, WINGERTER, WIRTH? I'm especially interested in SULPICE. Frederick Louis SULPICE immigrated from France to NEW ORLEANS about 1860. He was only 21 years old. He married a widow, BLANCHE, 8 years older than himself. She had a daughter by first marriage. Not sure whether her maiden name of first married name was BOUROT/BOROT or BELIN/BELLIN. Old documents list all four spelling. One child lists his mother's maiden name as BELIN, another said it was BELLIN, and a third said it was BOROT. Frederick Louis SULPICE may have fought in a war. An F. Sulpice is listed in the LA militia. Also listed was an unknown J. SULPICE. Cannot find further evidence of J. Sulpice. Cannot find passenger ship entries for Sulpice except for a trip BLANCHE SULPICE made with TOM ????SULPICE and their four children to France when the youngest was 6 years old. Frederick may have had relatives he brought his family back to see. But was TOM a nickname for Frederick Louis? The microfiche clearly says "Tom." They were on the SS Hohenzollen Nov. 1, 1881 from Bremen to Galveston, Texas. But they lived in New Orleans. Why wouldn't they take a ship directly to the port of New Orleans in 1881. Would they have gone overland from Galveston to N.O? Or would they have taken a smaller ship from Galveston to N.O? I put in a request to an online antique shop looking for something Frederick and his son Henry may have produced in their shop: F. Sulpice and Son, makers of surveyors instruments, opera glasses and maritime instruments. A family genealogist said she has not found them in any New Orleans cemeteries. Thank you for any help.
