Father Donald Hebert has indexed all of the church and courthouse records in southwest Louisiana. The books are Southwest Louisiana Records and come in volumes. Records start with 1750 and go into the early 1900's...I'm not sure what the last year he did and published but he is working on this all the time. I don't know where you live, so I don't know where to tell you to go find them. They are in just about all the libraries in SW La and in many of the major libraries across the country. He is putting them on CD. He has taken pre-pub orders for them but the cd is not out yet. The cost of the cd is somewhere around $335 last I heard. These books are invaluable, but HE would be the first to tell you that if you need this for proof, then get the actual record from the church or courthouse. This, like any other secondary source must be verified with the actual document or in the case of some chruches, a certificate stating what is there on the old record. We call them the "blue books" cause they are blue. Jan At 10:46 PM 9/3/1999 EDT, you wrote: >I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean about the "blue books" by >Rev. Herbert.
