I will do the lookups. Please just provide whatever info you have on the three marriages & we will look it up. Have you checked the eight members that start on Paul Trahan to see if they are the same line? -----Original Message----- From: Scrapcat2 <[email protected]> To: la-lghs <[email protected]> Sent: Sun, Nov 25, 2012 4:59 pm Subject: Re: [LA-LGHS] Marriage Records - Southwest Louisiana - French Canadians Where does one find Father Hebert's Southwest LA Records. Lafourche & Terrebonne are in Father Hebert South Louisiana Records. Southwest louisiana are in Father Hebert's Southwest LA Records. I shall make contact with these resources and see what I can find. I'm not sure that the DAR genies in WSH really insist on marriage info back to the 4th, 5th and 6th generations, but I'm trying as hard as I can to obtain what is being asked before this application is sent in. Our state just had our Board of Management meeting in St. Martinville, LA which is in the heart of Acadia and we had a tour of The Acadian Memorial 337 394-2273. They had a lot of records of the first Acadians who came to Louisiana in their genealogy library and history research center. Their wesbite is www.acadianmemorial.org. ; The Curator/Director of the Museum of the Acadian Memorial, Michelle Verret Johnson, can also be helpful directing you to the resources and records they have. The # there is 337 394-2258 and they are open daily 10am to 4:30 pm. I hope this information is helpful for you. Roman Catholic records, I understand, were sent to the Diocese of Baton Rouge, and many volumes of records have been published. Let me know if I can be of further help. Her lineage to a Revolutionary War Patriot can be traced back to an Acadian immigrant to Louisiana (Paul Trahan) I am struggling with her generations 4, 5 and 6 trying to find marriage records. The approximate dates of the marriages are before 1823, before 1869, and before 1896. The families were Roman Catholic. In addition, I need to find something that documents that surname spelling changes for the Aucoin that range from Oquinn, to Oquoin, to Auzanne, etc. Is there a book that discusses Acadian Surnames and spelling changes. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can share.
