Is the William Cooper from "Chifonte" during the West Florida rebellion the same William Cooper of Natchez who was an alcalde and is mentioned several times in McBee's book of Natchez court records? My ggg-grandmother was Catherine Cooper, married Courtland Smith of Natchez about 1800, had one child Aurelia 1802 and died before 1807. Probably Courtland was already on his West Feliciana land grant when Aurelia was born. I am searching among early Natchez and Florida parish residents for Aurelia's parents.
