My Roberts ancestors came to East Feliciana Parish from South Carolina in the early 1800s. From there some of them moved on to St. Helena and Washington Parishes and finally to southwestern Mississippi in the late 1800s. Question: since Tangipahoa Parish was carved out of existing parishes during Reconstruction, are their records strictly from the time the parish was created, or should I search there for information about family who might have resided in the geographic area that is now Tangipahoa Parish but was, when they lived there, a different parish? Thanks for helping. E. W. Prichard
