For a number of years I have trying to tie in my MORGAN line with the name Thomas Theall. Well, I found a tie in - with an unexpected association I an might add. My MORGAN line: My Father, Edward Fenwick MORGAN, Senior, b 1869; son of : John Campster MORGAN. b 1832; son of: Archibald MORGAN II, b 1810 and Anne MORGAN, b 1816 (first cousins). Anne MORGAN was the daughter of: Soloman MORGAN I, b 1770. Archibald MORGAN II was the son of Archibald MORGAN I, b 1774. Archibald MORGAN I and Soloman MORGAN were brothers, sons of John MORGAN (of North Carolina), b 1752. The family originated in Virgina; some migrated to North Carolina and returned to Virginia; then migrated to the Louisiana Territories, around Ste Genevieve County Missiouri; and then down to Southwest Louisiana and East Texas. I have a brother whose name is Thomas (Tom) THEALL MORGAN. My Father, now deceased, told me: My brother Tom was named for Thomas THEALL a MORGAN family friend. (Being named after a family friend is not unusual in my family, I have another named brother and an Aunt named "Willie Winston, after friends of the family.) Thomas THEALL, according to my Father go into trouble because he blew up (destroyed) a dam that rice farmers had built across a body of water. I am not sure of the body of water. According to my Father, the cattle ranchers and others were pretty upset by the dam. Again, according to my Father, Thomas THEALL was put on a sail boat and sent to Panama. I have tried for many years to contact "Thealls" without any success. Not the end of the story! I visited an old plantation home near a bayou or river a number of years ago that had just opened for visitors. It was near Lafayette, I think. The person conducting the tour of the home told about how the original family were wealthy but lost it as a result of the dam need for their rice was destroyed by cattle ranchers. Getting up off of the floor, I told her my story that my Father had told me. She indicated: "Probably True". She did not have a name for the "dam destroyers". I am very interested in hearing/learning more about: (1) the dam destroyers (2) Thomas THEALL. I was born in Gibson, Terrebonne, Louisiana; lived in New Orleans for a year, and then joined the Army remaining with them until 1968, retiring here in Springfield, Fairfax, Virginia.
