Hi I am very new to genealogy and will be going to a seminar at the New Orleans Public Library Sat AM. Im sure they will explain a lot but I wondered, if anyone can explain how the " soundex" works for instance my 2 names I am working on are BOREL and TALLON. Will the Soundex # always be the same for the particular name. I know I had some folks email me on how to use the census a while back But I did not hear about the soundex. How does the Soundex work?
