Hi Stephanie, A must for Shreveport research is the Shreve Memorial Library on Texas Street, downtown. The library sits "catty-cornered" across from the courthouse. The genealogy department is the 3rd floor of the building and you will be pleasantly surprised at our holdings. The hours are daily 9 to 6 (I think for summer) except Sunday which is 1 to 5. There is no fee to use the library & you may bring all your papers & notebooks in with you. Parking is a problem on week days, but the street behind the library has a Bank One parking garage that most of us use. It costs $4 for the entire day. A sandwich shop is across the street but closes in the early afternoon, so eat early (Theo's)........no area in library to get a cola or snack. Parking on the streets is by a meter and the police do enforce the expired meters with tickets or a lock on the car. Weekends parking with the meters is free. If I can answer any questions, just ask.
