    1. [LA-LGHS-L] Weaver: Metairie Cemetery
    2. Hi, Folks. This message was forwarded to me because of my Weaver research. However, since I do not live in the New Orleans area, I am unable to help Sherry with this cemetery lookup. I do know that the Metairie Cemetery is in Jefferson Parish, and not in Orleans Parish, but I was unable to find it in the Jefferson cemetery listings. If anyone can help, please email her directly and send a copy to this list. Thanks, Bill Austin -----Original Message----- From: behannafl <[email protected]> Date: Monday, July 26, 1999 7:15 PM Subject: Re: Weaver Hi, The William Weaver I have has a possible wife "Elizabeth". They had children Edith Anna Weaver 1873-1947 who married George Melvin Fox Sarah Ellen Weaver who married a Tom Wetzell and Kate who married Allyn Wilson who is was born in New Orleans but died in Ark. I've tried to find their children but coming up with a dead end but...I just found out that a William Weaver was buried in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans and I called and they gave me a section 72 lots 85-86. They didn't have any dates. She said I had to go look on the headstones. That's going to be hard since I live in FL. Now I have more paper work trail. I don't know if this helps but that's all the info I have. Sherrie

    3. Hi. You don't give any dates, but I looked for Nemour Boudreaux in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery book, pub. 1989 by Terrebonne Genealogical Society, and did not find that name, nor did I find Raymond P. Boudreaux (but you didn't say he was buried there, did you?). While I was at it, I checked the first ten year index for The Terrebonne Life Lines and found a Mrs. Nemour Boudreaux listed in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Chacahoula, La. (11 Aug 1894 - 10 Feb 1960). Checked for Cowart, but didn't find that name either. Checked Zerriange and Zeringue; did not see any indication of a Nemour Boudreaux buried with any of these. If more info could be provided, something more concrete may be found. Louis Duet Thibodaux, La. [email protected] member, Board of Directors, TGS

BOUDREAUX Also in this Cem. is a Louis Williams COLWART, died 1980 age 76; and Iris Zeringue died 1986 age 52. 2. Genealogy program set at Nicholls By River parishes bureau THIBODAUX -- A program titled "Genealogy of the Acadian People" is scheduled Aug. 5 in Peltier Auditorium on the campus of Nicholls State University. The program is sponsored by NSU, the Lafourche Heritage Society and Congres Mondial Acadien, a 16-day event meeting in 56 cities across south Louisiana. Speakers will seek to broaden the historical and genealogical knowledge of the many dispersed Acadian descendants and provide guidance in researching Acadian ancestors through exposure to experts and authorities in historical, genealogical and related fields. "People are coming from all over," said Tom Butler, symposium coordinator and NSU associate librarian. "Speakers are hitting topics which are of paramount interest to the genealogists," Butler said. The symposium, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is free and open to the public. Meanwhile, the third annual Cajun and Zydeco Music and Dance Exhibit will be held the same day in the Ellender Memorial Library on the NSU campus. The group Ecouter will perform from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and Cajun Bon Temps will perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the student center. Julie Landry of Academy of Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau will lecture on the diversity of Cajun and Zydeco music from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the library.
