Is it also possible to get a copy of original register page? -----Original Message----- From: Pat Snyder [email protected] Good Morning all, For the obtaining of a record from the St Martinville Church, which by the way is St Martin De Tours, you must go the the website entitled "St Lucy's Festival". Once there click on Genealogy. A for comes up, and you should print it out and complete it. Then send it to the designated address and they will send you the appropriate documents. I forget the fee, but it is on the website. The reason for this is that the work is done by an elderly volunteer who only works one day a week. Hope this helps. Pat Snyder [email protected]

They had a lot of records of the first Acadians who came to Louisiana in their genealogy library and history research center. Their wesbite is www.acadianmemorial.org. The Curator/Director of the Museum of the Acadian Memorial, Michelle Verret Johnson, can also be helpful directing you to the resources and records they have. The approximate dates of the marriages are before 1823, before 1869, and before 1896. The families were Roman Catholic. In addition, I need to find something that documents that surname spelling changes for the Aucoin that range from Oquinn, to Oquoin, to Auzanne, etc. Is there a book that discusses Acadian Surnames and spelling changes. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can share.
