    3. The Chauvin brothers were very prominent in New Orleans under the French Rule. Chauvin de la Freniere was the Attorney General. Unfortunately, he became one of the leaders of the group who rebelled against the First Spanish Governor Ulloa during the New Orleans Rebellion of 1768. He along with several others were sentenced to death by General O'Reilly on Oct. 24, 1769 and executed by firing squad the following day. The history of the New Orleans Rebellion of 1768 is contained in the book Denis-Nicolas Foucault and the New Orleans Rebellion of 1768 by Carl A. Brasseaux. A copy is for sale on my books page at http://www.thecajuns.com/books.htm Stanley LeBlanc -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Eula Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2012 2:03 PM To: Undisclosed-Recipient:; Subject: [LA-FRENCH-GERMAN] Fw: Chauvin brothers of New Orleans I received an inquiry from ---- Kevin Joyce - [email protected] Kevin in inquirying about the Chauvin brothers of New Orleans.
