Hello, My request: Tangipahoa Parish/1870 /TUCKER On the actual census page, I can read Horace TUCKER, but I cannot figure out the name of the only other person in his household. She is also a Tucker, female, white, and 95 yrs. old, b. LA. If anyone has access to the census *index* for LA for 1870, Tangapahoa Parish, I would really appreciate a look at how the given name was interpreted. The entry in the census looks like this: Line 19, 229/229 TUCKER, Horace 54 M W Louisiana , [?????] 95 F W Louisiana This should be Sarah or Sallie (Snow) TUCKER, but I absolutely cannot see anything that resembles "Sarah or Sallie." Dixie, I have no index, but in looking at the census image, TO ME it appears to be Amandart. Never heard the name, but would be my best guess per the census taker's style of script. Definitely not Sarah, although if Sarah were her middle name and the census taker specified "first" name, it may be the same person. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I do wish you luck with that one!
