    3. Linda, You may have stumbled on something for me. As I wrote below, It's possible the Theresa BURTON you found in St. Landry's Parish, may have been her mother, Marie Theresa Duvernois BURTON. Do you have access to the actual 1860 census for a look-up of this, or can you give me the info from the index so someone can check for me. Thanks, Ray ----- Original Message ----- From: Ray Horton To: Judy Wostal Sent: Saturday, May 11, 2002 9:38 PM Subject: Re: [LA-CEN] 1860CEN. -Sacred Heart School student Judy, some things could be coming together here. The Theresa BURTON indexed in the 1860 La. census, St. Landry Parish, age 49, could very well have been her mother, Marie Theresa Duvernois BURTON. No problem born in Miss., since I have no idea where her mother was born. She very well may have been widowed by 1860. I believe she died of yellow fever shortly thereafter. It's possible that the Sacred Heart Academy in New Orleans hadn't opened just yet by 1860. Seems more than a coincidence that there is a Theresa BURTON and a Sacred Heart Academy in St. Landry Parish. Do you have access to the 1860 census and not just the index? If so, would you be able to look up this Theresa BURTON for me and see if it says she was a widow, and if she had any children with her. If you don't have it, please let me know the reference, i.e. E.D, etc. for someone to look it up when I post a request. Also, would the census show the list of people living at the Sacred Heart School there, like a boarding student? I believe she would have been boarding as a student at the Convent of the Madames of the Sacred Heart in the Vieux Carre of New Orleans, I believe on St. Peter's St. Her name was Theresa Duvernois BURTON. Sorry I don't have more detail on the location of the Convent/School (I know it moved in 1886 to iots present location).
