    1. [LA-CEN] Orleans Parish; 1870; Beatty
    2. Craig Borne
    3. I am searching for a very elusive gentleman, Richard Edward Beatty. He came to New Orleans during the Civil War as a Union Navy sailor, and he relocated himself after the war from Iowa to New Orleans in about 1867. He married Johanna Ward Gray, the widow of C. A. Gray, and the couple had two children, Richard Thomas in 1869 and Suzanna in 1872. Richard Thomas Beatty should have been born in New Orleans and Suzanna in St. Helena Parish. Richard Edward Beatty shows up in the 1880 St. Helena (or Tangipahoa) Parish Census, but I have yet to find him in New Orleans. Also living in the household were Johanna’s two sons from her first marriage, George Gray b. 1861 and John Gray b. 1867. These boys would also show up in the Beatty household as they were raised by Richard Edward Beatty. Richard would have been about 28 years old in the 1870 census, and his wife Johanna would have been about 30/31 years old. Johanna was born in Ireland and Richard on a ship heading from Ireland to America somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico. Thank you for any help that you can give. Regards, Craig Borne

    3. Hi there, I am the list admin & while I do LOVE the idea, I do wish you had asked me prior to posting this message to this list. This list is strictly for people that don't have access to census information that are looking for a "kind soul" to help them out... I would like to know just how you are associated with this program, etc. If there is no response in a timely manor, I will have to suggest that NO one pay attention to your mail as it would be considered SPAM. 1. [LA-CEN] 1920/Orleans/McCORD
    2. Could someone please search for the census record of William McCORD in 1920? He should be age 52, most likely in Orleans parish. The puzzling thing is he did not die until October 1922, yet his wife Belle and children are living with his two sisters in 1920 on Magazine Street in New Orleans. I certainly have never heard that William and Belle ever divorced, but I have not been able to find him in the 1920 census. Could he have been forgotten in the enumeration of that household, or was he in a nursing home somewhere, or?? Hope someone can help solve this mystery. Thanks so much for your help. Laura Forester
