She gives us several leads. Will someone volunteer to do the calling? I could do it but I'm already up to my ears in board meetings, classes, projects, volunteer work, and so much more. BTW, I took Dr. McKillops class "Archaeology of Death" three or four years ago. It was great. (I'm a granny/student majoring in Anthropology. Will graduate in December.) We studied cemeteries, burial practices, etc. and took some great field trips. She was a little surprised to hear that we called it the "Death" class. I still say that was my favorite class. If someone can work on this, please let the list know. I think we're all concerned. Brenda ~~~~~~ "Brenda, The laws regarding cemeteries are complex in Louisiana. There is a Cemeteries Board in charge of registered cemeteries. You should call them on Monday. If you can't find their number in the phone book, call the LA Division of Archaeology, 342-8170. The State Archaeologist, Dr. Tom Eubanks, should be able to refer you to the Cemeteries Board. You could also call Rachel Watson--remember one of my former graduate students--who now works full-time for the Division of Archaeology (same number). She works for Mr. Duke Rivet in the Division of Archaeology's Section 106 office dealing with archaeological assessments. Please keep me informed about your progress with the Cajun cemeteries. Of course, I am very sympathetic to the preservation of graves in cemeteries as markers of past culture. Heather" ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 ==== ACADIAN-CAJUN Mailing List ==== Make a Present of your Past; Leave your legacy!
