While=20 there, I recorded as many "tagged" tombs as possible. I will go back=20 tomorrow. I did not get a chance to record every tomb, but I hope to finish= =20 later. I do believe that I have at least half of the names. They are as=20 follows: Edgard E. Voorhies Aude Dugas Mrs. Dadoue Dore Jacques Alfred Bienvenu Eugene Bienvenu Henri Fournet Rosalie Aspasie, Dame Oger Felias Viator Octave Lopez Simon Lopez H. B. Alleman J. F. H. Caillet Maire Louise G. Laviolette Amedee Laviolette Ducre Dugas Charles Savoie. It is impossible for me to express my deeply hurt feelings that someone woul= d=20 be so cruel to destroy these graves. I left the cemetery with a very heavy=20 heart. Most of the tombs tagged are over 150 years old. There was a tagged= =20 tomb of one of my ancestors: J. F. H. Caillet. It is the most magnificentl= y=20 built tomb in the whole cemetery. He died well over 170 years ago. There=20 was a very touching inscription on the tomb, in French. It said how noble=20 and respectable the man was. Someone must have loved him very much to make=20 that wonderful tribute and it's horrible to think that anyone would want to=20 destroy it. I urge everyone to visit that tomb. It is plot 140. Many of=20 the tombs listed above have a husband and a wife in them. I just listed the= =20 husband's name because I was in a hurry. After seeing those poor,=20 unfortunate graves, I am prepared to do ANYTHING I can to save them. I am=20 planning to go speak to the priest of St. Martin de Tours in St. Martinville= .=20 I welcome anyone that would like to join me. I am only 15 years old and I=20 want them to take me seriously. If some people can't come, maybe we could=20 get a petition started. I have a Charles Savoie of St. Martin Parish listed as one of my husband's ancestors, but I have not done any research yet on this family. Does anyone have any information on the Savoie tombstone that is tagged? My Charles Savoie was born about 1703. His wife was Francoise Martin. How would I find information on the inscription? Are these tagged tombs to be destroyed or moved? What happens to the tombstones? I just joined this list, so I've missed part of this discussion. You didn't see Christophe Chevalier deL'Homme's flag. It is at the foot, about 4" off the ground, very easy to not see without a 2 year old in your company. Mary
