    1. [LA-CEMETERIES] Cemetary out of Wisner
    2. I am looking for the gravesites of John C. Collins who died in 1866 and lived in St. Landry Parish when he died. I am also looking for Charles Ward Collins who died in 1904 and lived in Franklin county. It is rumored that he was buried in a country cemetery out of Wisner near Winnsboro, La.which is in Franklin County. It is in a abandoned cemetary going toward Turkey Creek. The grave is no longer with a marker. It has been bulldozed and is on a slope near an abandoned r oad in this cemetary. A family by the name of Jesse Holden who lives near there knows where h e is buried. If anyone can shed light on this, I would appreciate it. mjivy@aol.com

    3. I am searching for the burial place of Maggie (Margaret?) Rabalais, widow of Dr. Leonard Rabalais. She is believed to have moved from Moreauville to Lafayette, LA after the death of her husband in 1921. He is buried in Moreauville but it is believed she moved to Lafayette with my uncle who was raised by the Rabalais. She was originally from KY and was a nurse who met Dr. Rabalais when he was in med school in KY. Upon getting his degree, they settled in Moreauville.

    3. >From this morning's paper, The Advocate. www.theadvocate.com "Port Hudson historic site offers cemetery tours By Baker-Zachary bureau PORT HUDSON -- The Port Hudson State Historic Site staff will conduct a National Cemetery Tour for visitors at 10 a.m. Saturday. The excursion will begin at the site museum with a caravan through Old Port Hudson and along historic river bluffs to the Port Hudson National Cemetery, where the graves of Union soldiers who died during the 1863 siege of Port Hudson will be viewed and discussed. The cemetery was established in 1867. "We want to educate the visitors about the history of the southern end of the battlefield, where the national cemetery now sits, outside of park boundaries. We also want to honor those who fought valiantly at Port Hudson during the Civil War," said Michael Fraering, site curator. The $2 admission to the site provides access to the battlefield and museum daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children 12 and younger and visitors 62 and older are admitted free. The historic site is north of Baton Rouge on U.S. 61 in East Feliciana Parish." ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1
