I am researching my great-great-grandfather, William (Williamson) Spencer who married Louisa Hanks and then Catherine Wyatt (I come from Catherine) through their son Nathaniel. William had 21 children. There are some very serious Spencer researchers, and none of us can determine William's parents, although it seems obvious that he came from Joseph and Mary Spencer of Lee Co, VA. I come from their two sons; Moses d. Wolfe County, John d. Perry County. Would like to hear from other descendants.

Hi, Jo-- I have just been going through my Spencer book, by Mannuel Ray Spencer. I am descended from Moses Spencer,son of Joseph, son of William. I have a double line going back to Moses by way of the Whismans and Hobbs. My sister has a picture of a lady that belonged to our grandfather, James Floyd Rose, whose parents were David Bowen Rose and Mary Ann (CatherineP Whisman. I have a picture of them. Do you have Mannuel's book. It is quite good. Has over 400 pages. Lots of names and connections. I have found a mistake or two in the more recent names but in a book of this size, that is to be expected. I am related to the Swango Family via my Graandmother and Grandfather Rose. They were 3rd cousins. So when I get back so far, George WAshingon Swango is my 3X greatgrandfather--twice. I think geneology is fascinating. I like history and what is more interesting than the history of your own family?!
