As near as I can figure it--going by Mannuel's book-- John Lee Spencer, son of Isabella dau. of Moses, married Mary Ann Hobbs dau. of Mary Spencer dau. of Aaron. This is where the two lines come together, They really loved the name Mary--it is used sp much that it's easy to get mixed up. I live in Trenton, OH which is across the river from Middletown, OH. My maiden name was/is Rose. However, I was born and grew up in Wolfe Co., KY. My husband is from Wolfe Co. too. He was working in OH when we got married and so I came to OH too. My sister, Norma Rose Profitt lives in Wolfe Co. Her son is Kenny Profitt who used to live in Stanton. He now lives in Wolfe Co. too. He has done a lot of work on the Hobbs and Whisman families--his father's family. In doing the Rose side of my family, I discovered that my husband and I are 5th cousins through the Roses. It's a small world! I would love to meet you. So many people don;t care very much about where they came from, but I think it is fascinating. None of my 3 children are interested in it. Bess My great grandmother's mother died when my great grandmother, Josephine Rutherford and her three sisters were young. Her father, Pierce Rutherford remarried and apparently the girls were placed in other households, probably to work. Louisa Rutherford was placed in the household of James Rose listed as age 42 in the 1860 Morgan Co Census. Inquiring if this James Rose is related to your Roses line?
