The following was published in the Hazel Green Herald newspaper on February 9, 1887, on page 1. "Wolfe County. Lane, Feb. 6 - On last Sunday three or four fights occurred on the William Hollon fork of Holly Creek, in which men, women and children were concerned. Louis and Geo. Hatton, brothers, engaged in an old fashioned fist-and-skull bout, when another one of the brothers interfered and separate them, neither one being serious injured, but their wives - They knocked, bit, scratched and pulled hair, and now their faces are bruised and heads bare." Given the locality, it is likely that the George Hatton listed was the George Hatton (1851-1917), who was the husband of Charlotte Hollon (1848-1928). She was the daughter of William Hollon and Candus Short. So Charlotte would obviously then have been one in a scrap with the wife of Louis Hatton. I don't have any knowledge of George Hatton's line, or brother Louis, as I am related via the Hollon line. If you have any knowledge, I would be interested. Timothy J. Timothy, I probably even have the reason for the fight, etc. My husband had a stroke and dementia sit in. I have to watch him constantly. My mother is named Paralee, after Paralee Hollon. My 3 youngest grandchildren moved in, so my stuff is packed away. I'll try to find a little time to look for my Hatton notebook. I have stories galore. It's been said the Hatton's and Brewer's are the same family. There was so much intermarriage between the 2 families. All the names you mentioned are familiar to me as they are my g-uncles. several times over. My grandparents raised me. Grandpa was Jessie Brewer s/o Green Brewer and Mahala Hatton. I'll try each day to find more. I grew up listening to stories about them. They were 1st cousins. My fingers are so swollen I can hardly type, but I'd like to keep in touch. I think we talked before...God Bless On Friday, January 10, 2014 9:52 PM, Timothy J.
