Philip or Phillip Hollon is a son of John Hollon, Jr. and Elizabeth Mary "Polly" Gibbs. All previous sources, such as Clay Hollon's book from 1958, simply indicate that he "died young." He is listed on both two census records with his parents: 1850 at age 4, and 1860 at age 15. Given the timeframe, and that his older brother, George Washington Hollon, served with the Union during the Civil War, that is an angle that I am exploring. There is a Phillip Holland that list listed with the Ohio infantry. There are no enlistment papers on Ancestry or Fold3. So I've added this to a future task to fill out the forms, and mail it off to Washington. Timothy J. Barron tim@timbarron.net http://timbarron.net
