While integrating and updating my data on Ancestry, I've found conflicting information for Josephine Brewer, the daughter of Goff Brewer and Maud Brewer (nee Halsey). Does anyone have further knowledge or documenation to clarify this? There are two sets of conflicting death records for what appears to be the same individual. This is the first set of records. The birth date shows 9/17/1916, and 11/8/1916 is crossed out. The death date of 11/8/1917. The Kentucky Death Index, 1911-2000, lists the following record: "Name: Josephine Brewer; Death Date: 8 Nov 1916; Death Place: Wolfe; Volume: 13; Certificate: 6299." The Kentucky, Death Records, 1852-1953, lists the following record: "Name: Josephine Brewer; Death Date: 8 Nov 1917; Death Location: Wolfe; Age: 1; Gender: Female; Ethnicity: White; Birth Date: 7 Sep 1916; Birth Location: Kentucky; Father's Name: Golf Brewer; Father's Birth Location: Kentucky; Mother's Name: Maud Haulsey; Mother's Birth Location: Kentucky." The following information was transcribed from the actual document: "Certificate: 6399; Place of Death: Wolfe County; Name: Josephine Brewer; Sex: Female; Race: White; Marital: Single; Born: September 7, 1916 [November 8, 1916 is crossed out] in Kentucky; Father: Golf Brewer [sic - Goff], born in Kentucky; Mother Maiden: Maud Haulsey [sic - Halsey], born in Kentucky; Informant: Golf Brewer, Vortex, Kentucky; Date of Death: November 8, 1917; Cause of Death: Unknown, perhaps heart failure." Timothy, I don't have specific info on this person but know in general from my own family that getting to "town" to do birth and death reports wasn't always on the top of their survival list.   I have my grandmother with about three different birth notices to the county seat - all of them wrong according to what her mother told her.  When she turned 65 the government told her to pick one of the recorded ones and don't try to get the correct date into the system.    I have a couple of relatives named one name by their mother but the birth records are recorded with another name because she sent someone to town who didn't write and didn't remember what she said so they made a name up.    I also have relatives born one name and after the courthouse burnt lived the rest of their lives with a different name.  I noticed that these errors where in a different year volume than the event and had different informants.
