BANKS, James J. "Jay" Age 85, formerly of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Otterbein Retirement Community where he had resided for one year. He was born March 25, 1928 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. He was employed as an industrial painter for Local 249 for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Jay was a former member of Moose Lodge 501. Preceding him in death were his parents, Eli and Sarah (Miller) Banks; his wife, Henrietta Banks in 2011; one son, Gerald Wayne Russell; four brothers, Willie, Robert, Elmer and Eli Banks; and three sisters, Rachel Brate, Hazel Booth and Viola Wagers. He is survived by one son, Darrell J. Banks, wife Cindy; two daughters, Pamela K. Banks and Brenda S. Banks; one step son, Gary Abercrombie; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Sarah Wireman, husband Gordon. Visitation will be Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by services at 12:00 noon with Dr. Dan Flory officiating.
