Wolfe County News - Jan. 31, 1969 CHARLIE DRAKE PASSES SUNDAY Charlie Drake, 76, of Campton, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday in Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, after a long illness. He was a native of Wolfe County, a veteran of World War I and attended the Mullins Point Chapel Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Malvria Drake, seven sons, Verner Drake, Vine Grove, Harrington Drake, Dayton, Ohio; Kernell Drake, Pontiac, Mich., Edward Drake, Louisville; Ralph Drake, Vandalia, Ohio; Lester Drake, Middletown, Ohio and Billy Joe Drake, with the U.S. Army in Ft. Campbell; three daughters, Mrs. Caden Brown, Madison Heights, Mich; Mrs. Bonnie Farley, Dayton, Ohio; and Mrs. Geneva Tyra, Lexington; nine brothers, Henry Drake, Terre Haute, Ind., Wade Drake, Crandon, Wisc., Courtney Drake, Beattyville, Ballard and Seldon Drake, Campton; Fred Drake, Dayton, Ohio; Carter Drake, Millwaukee, Wisc.; Emory Drake, New Hudson, Mich., and Nevyle Drake, Campton; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Whisman and Mrs. Celia Gentry, Middletown, Ohio and Mrs. Myrtle Little, Campton and 20 grandchildren. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Campton Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Cummins. Burial in the family cemetery. The Shackelford Funeral Home in charge. GENTRY DIES IN OHIO APRIL 2 Mrs. Celia Gentry, 77, of 4829 Mosiman Raod, died Tuesday, April 2 at 7:30 a.m. in the emergency room at Middletown Hospital following an extended illness. Formerly of Wolfe County, Kentucky, she had been a Middletown, Ohio resident for 20 years. She is survived by five sons, Calvin, Raleigh, Willis, Willie, and Jack, all of Middletown, three daughters, Mrs. Irene Ford of Venice, Florida; Mrs. Jean Eadler of Canoga Park, California and Mrs. Shirley Kilburn of Bryan, Ohio; 25 grandchildren, six brothers; Wade and Carter Drake of Wisconsin and Fred, Ballard and Seldon Drake of Campton, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Little of Campton, Ky., and Mrs. Ida Whisman of Middletown, Ohio. Funeral services was held Friday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Breiteenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, Middletown with the Rev. James Dial officiating. Burial in the Butler County Memorial Park, Middletown. Carole Note: Charlie and Celia were children of James E (Ned) Drake and Dora Cable.
