Wolfe County News - Feb. 5, 1964 FORMER RESIDENT CLAIMED JAN. 24 Mrs. Lydia Byrd Gevedon, 74, wife of Joe H. Gevedon, died at her home in Lexington Sunday, Jan. 25 after an illness of more than two years. Daughter of the late William and Emilee Center Byrd, she lived in Campton prior to her marriage. She has been a resident of Lexington for the past 50 years. Two sons, Kendell Byrd Gevedon and Cantrill Raymond Gevedon preceded her in death as did her brother, Hendrix Byrd of Shelbyville, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Horton of Campton and Bertha Hoskins of Slade. She is survived by her husband, Joe H. Gevedon; one daughter, Mrs. W.S. Rogers II, one grandson, W.S. Rogers III, and one granddaughter, Donna Jo Rogers, all of Lexington. She was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Kentucky Mountain Club. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington. Rev. C. Nevil White officiating. Bearers were Kendall B. Hoskins, James Head, J.W. Myers, S.H. Perkins, Walter Short, and Henry Simpson. Burial was in a Lexington cemetery. Carole
