Wolfe County News - April 1963 AGED RESIDENT OF WOLFE DIES Mrs. Lou Ward Johnson, 87, of Hazel Green died at 7:20 p.m. March 27 at Smith Rest Home in Beattyville after a long illness. She had been in the rest home the past year and a half, and had been a member of Hazel Green Christian Church for approximately 50 years. A native of Wolfe County, she was born Feb. 17, 1876, the daughter of John Ward and Juda Cox Ward. She was widely known and had been a school teacher and postmistress. Her husband preceded her in death 19 years ago. She is survived by the following stepchildren; A.T. Johnson, Hazel Green; Robert A. Johnson, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. J.B. Buchanan, Hazel Green; Mrs. Ralph Cann and Mrs. James Walker, Dearborn, Mich.; Frank Franklin, Claremont, Calif. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Hazel Green Christian Church by Rev. J.R. Nevius assisted by H.A. Stovall. Shackelford Funeral Home at Campton in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were E.A.
