Wolfe County News - Jan. 23, 1957 COUNTY NATIVE DIES AT AGE 74 IN CALIFORNIA Charles Oscar Smith, 74, died at Stockton, California, January 13, after a long illness. Mr. Smith was formerly of Wolfe County and was a son of the late S.D. and Miranda Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dora Smith, a son, Ralph Smith: two brothers, Wallace B. Smith and Grover C. Smith; and three grandsons, all of Stockton, and one sister, Mrs. George M. Payne, Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 15th in Stockton and burial was also there. Mr. Smith was a brother to the late W.C. Smith, who was for many years Judge of Wolfe County and also a brother to the late Mrs. Jane Allison. He leaves many relatives in Wolfe County, among them the post master at Campton, Jack Smith who is a nephew. Mrs. Smith left Campton when he was a young boy. He was retired from the police force in Stockton at the time of his death. Carole
