Spencer was killed in a car wreck Tuesday afternoon when he and a boy companion were driving on Highway 15 going east. It was reported a tire blew out and the car ran off the road and Spencer fell out and the car ran over him, then turned over on him. The body was taken to Porter Funeral Home where it lay in state until the funeral and burial Thursday. Funeral was conducted by the Rev. Omer Spencer at the Porter Funeral Home and burial was in the family cemetery on Sandy Ridge. Bereaved are his mother, Mrs. Nora Spencer; five sisters, Mrs. Malvery B. Combs of Pine Ridge; Mrs. Effie B. Campbell of Middletown, Ohio; Mrs. Dorsey Brewer of Middletown, O.: Mrs. Golden Landsaw, Middletown, Oh. and Mrs. Gurthie Evans, and Mrs. Geneva Walker, Middletown, O.; two brothers, Mitchel Spencer of Pine Ridge and Wilson Spencer of Rogers.
