Wolfe County News - May 1960 RETIRED CAPTAIN DIES IN HOSPITAL James I. Hollon, Sr., 76, of Hazel Green, veteran of World War I, in which he ranked as Captain, died in the Veterans Hospital at Louisville, Saturday night, May 14 at about 8 o'clock after three weeks illness. He was a member of the Catholic Church, Winchester, Ky. He was proceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Day Hollon and two sons, Kelly and Raymond. He is survived by one son, Jas. I. Hollon, Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Hollon Stewart, both of Hazel Green; four grandchildren Connie and Jimmy Hollon and James Ivan and Kelly Stewart; one brother, Clay Hollon of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Loura Henderson and Mrs. Emma Rowe, both of Calif; one half brother, Beckham Hollon of Chicago; three half sisters, Mrs. Lennie Hollon Land, Lancaster, Mrs. Ruth Fry and Mrs. Iva Noel, both of Tulsa, Okla. Funeral was conducted Wednesday monring at 11 o'clock at the home with Father Theodore Keller of the Winchester Catholic Church officiating. Burial was in the Hazel Green cemetery with Herald and Stewart Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge. Acitve pallbearers were M.E. Center, Ralph Lockard, Chester Gibbs, A.B.
