    3. Wolfe County News - July 11, 1962 BERTHA S. KASH DIED JULY 2ND Mrs. Bertha Sample Kash, died at 11 p.m. Monday, July 2 at Our Lady of the Angels Nursing Home, 1027 Cherokee Road, Louisville, where she had lived several years. She was 80. She was a member of the Fourth Avenue Methodist Church, Louisville. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles H. Burton, Louisville and Mrs. D.C. Edmonds, Arlington, VA., and two grandsons; also two brothers, D.S. Sample, Kingsport, Tenn, and S.G. Sample, Edna, Texas and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Quixall, Leland, Fla. She was a native of Wolfe County and a former resident of Hazel Green, where her husband, Sam Kash, who preceded her in death, operated a dry goods store for many years. Mrs. Kash was a graduate of Hazel Green Academy and until recent years always attended the annual homecoming. The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington. Burial was in the cemetery in Lexington beside her husband. Mrs. Kash had lived with her elder daughter, Mrs. C.H. Buton for the past fifteen years. She was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Rachel Rose Samples of Wolfe County and Lexington and a native of Hazel Green. She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church, Lexington, while she lived there and a charter member of the Kentucky Mountain Club. Her grandsons are Jack K. Burton, Delaware, Ohio, and Sam Kash, Louisville. Funeral was at Keer/Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington, with Dr. Floyd Rose officiating, and burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers were C.H. Sample, Dr. V.O. Kash, Robert Coleman Stilz, Joe F. Heinrich, Jr., E.H. McGuire and R.B. Batson. Honorary pallbearers were W.E. Bach, Sam Perkins, S.H. Nickell, S. Lee Rose, Elmer Barker and K.P. Swango. Carole
