Wolfe County News - April 1963 FORMER WOLFE SHERIFF DIES Fred Jackson Stamper, 82, of North Sycamore St., Mt. Sterling, native of Wolfe County and former sheriff of Wolfe, died at 8 p.m. Thursday night, April 4th at the Mary Chiles Hospital, Mt. Sterling after a long illness. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mooda Oldfields Stamper, Mt. Sterling; a son, Everett Stamper, Pineville, W.Va., a daughter, Mrs. Susie Taulbee, Campton, three brothers, Mort Stamper, Hazel Green, Thomas Stamper, Camargo and Andrew Stamper, Dayton, Ohio. Six grandchildren, 18 great grandchhildren and a great great grandchild. Services were conducted at 2 -.m. Satruday at the Hazel Green Christian Church with Rev. Oliver Mason officiating. Burial was in the Hazel Green Cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside. Pallbearers were Brack Brewer, Joe Miller, Kindell Clark, Bobby Rose, Breck Rose, James K. Stamper. Honorary pallbearers were A.B. Kash, Grant Rose, John W. Rose, D.C. Rose, and S.D. and A.S. Cecil. Eastin and RIchey Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling, were in charge of arrangements. Carole
