Wolfe County News - March 14, 1962 The body of Herbert Banks, 9, who had been missing from his home at Lee City for nine days was found Wednesday in Red River near Lee City. The body of the youngster was located by Taylor Sallee. Sallee, who had been a member of an earlier search party, said he just happened to see the Banks boy's feet caught on a bush where floodwaters had receded along the Red River. An estimated 50 pounds of sand covered the upper half of his body. The Banks boy attended Lee City School and was a son of Ernest C. Banks and Mrs. Alma Hall Banks. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Reva Wilson, Elston and Mrs. Effie Rose, Middletown and seven brothers, Kelly Banks, Newport; Alton Banks, Millersburg; Wardell Banks, Helechawa and Henry, Forest, Audie and Roscoe Banks, Lee City. Funeral was Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Lee City Mission Church. Burial was in the Brooks Cemetery near Hazel Green. B.F. Porter and Son Funeral Home was in charge. Carole
